NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 6, 1996--Marvel Entertainment Group Inc. (NYSE:MRV) has appointed Scott Marden to the position of chief executive officer of Marvel Software, a newly create business unit.
In his new position, Marden, 41, will be responsible for Marvel's move into electronic and interactive media. He will report directly to William C. Bevins, CEO of Marvel Entertainment Group. "Marvel has an unrivaled intellectual property base comprising more than 3,000 characters and story lines stretching back over 30 years and more," said Bevins. "Scott Marden's rich background in media, of all forms, will accelerate Marvel's push into the electronic frontier of today, as well as tomorrow. With this appointment, Marvel takes another important step in its continuing evolution as a broad-based youth entertainment company."
Marden was president and CEO of Philips Media, a unit of Philips Electronics, N.V., since its inception in 1993. In this position, he was responsible for the company's worldwide electronic media activities, including CD-ROM development and distribution, cable television operations, and a newly established Internet group. Prior to that, Marden spent 7 years on Wall Street as a leading advisor to the media industry. "I am delighted to become a part of the Marvel Entertainment Group.
